Consider This Your Ultimate Winter Road Trip Packing List

When the Sitchu Team hit the road for a recent winter road trip, we made sure to take all the essentials (and a few treats, too!). Here's what was on our packing list.

ODE

While winter weather makes it very easy to snuggle up indoors with a good book (and a good glass of wine...), it's also one of the best times to hit the road and explore.

Whether you're keen to explore stunning wineries, cute small-town stores or feasting on gastronomical delights, there's one thing you should never stress about before going on a trip: what to pack.

The Sitchu Team recently took a road trip of their own, and we were sure to pack all of the essentials (and a few extra treats) to keep ourselves cosy, stylish and comfy.

All that's left to do is fight over who gets to control the playlist first.

Winter Packing List: It’s All in the Bag

MAISON de SABRÉ

First things first, it's time to nail your choice of bag.

Ditch the old suitcase and swap to something a little more chic (and compact) for your road trip - like The Duffle Bag from MAISON de SABRÉ. We love the on-trend pecan brown shade and the fact it's overflowing with dynamic storage (we fit multiple coats, boots and beauty essentials inside with ease!) while still being lightweight.

A grocer-style tote - like this one from A-ESQUE - is also perfect for a mini getaway, thanks to its combination of style and utility.

For days out and about exploring VESTIRSI's Simone 2.0 is our go-to. A best-seller, this carry-all instantly elevates any look and has more than enough space to hold all the local treats and products you pick up while exploring.

Winter Packing List: A Cosy, Chic Coat

Foxwood

The inside of the car might be cosy, but there's still the winter chill to brave when you step outside, so a warm, chic coat is a must.

The Clementine Coat from Foxwood kept us snug as a stylish bug while we strolled through country towns. If you're in your denim era, ODE's Billie Denim Trench Coat features a classic trench-coat design with a light-wash denim twist, making it the perfect piece for layering.

For a more subtle take, this black wash Denim Trench from JACANDMOOKI nails the off-duty, road trip aesthetic, or add a pop of colour to your overall look with the slightly oversized Holly Longline Coat from Kachel

Winter Packing List: Layer Up

Araminta James

Add an extra shot of warmth to your look by choosing chic layering options to wear underneath. The Mila Knit from JACANDMOOKI features a modern, boxy fit and a slouchy hem for comfort and contemporary style.

For low-key nights by an open fire, ODE's Billie Denim Shacket is a relaxed addition to your road trip 'robe, and is perfect paired with slouchy jeans for an on-trend, double-denim feel.

Want the model off-duty look? Go for a sweatshirt, like this one from Araminta James. Cut from cotton brushed fleece and with contrasting green colour, it's a chic combo of colour and textures that's perfect for a trip with the girls.

Winter Packing List: In-Car Treats

Aesop

The bags are packed, the music is queued...but what about the in-car goodies that bring an extra dose of luxury to the car trip?

Store a tube of Alya Skin Lip Jelly up front to keep lips plump, nourished and protected against the elements (and in-car heating!).

Having a hand cream - like Aesop's Eleos Aromatique Hand Balm - on hand is a saving grace for dry-skinned passengers. Plus, we're not against the car smelling like its woody, spicy blend of cedar atlas, patchouli and clove bud.

When it comes snacks, we're fiends for the delicious (and healthy!) sweets from Funday. Their Strawberry and Cream, Raspberry Gummy Frogs and Sour Peach Hearts always go down a treat and keep passengers princesses and backseat drivers happy.

Winter Packing List: Beauty Essentials

Strange Luxury

Style, comfort and warmth reign supreme for a winter road trip....but the fun really starts when it's time to pick which beauty, skincare and makeup essentials to take away with you.

Minimalism is often best when it comes to an off-duty makeup look, with a focus on healthy hair, natural coverage and radiant skin.

Get glowing from the inside out with SWISSH's Immunity Superfood Powder. With a blend of superfoods, probiotics, adaptogens, Zinc and Vitamin C, it will keep your immunity up while you're chilling (both literally and figuratively) out.

For haircare, pack travel-sized tools - like the ghd Mini Hair Straightener and Flight+ Travel Hair Dryer - for good hair days while on the move. We also took advantage of some downtime by packing a lush Refresh Scalp and Body Scrub and Rescue Masque from ORI Lab to treat ourselves to a spa-like experience while far from home.

To keep skin hydrated and healthy, the new Super Hydration Serum from Strange Luxury hydrates from within while locking in moisture, thanks to high and low weights of hyaluronic acid.

Keep makeup low-key and glowing, with the Liquid Rays Bronzing Drops from Sunset Daze. Simply add a few drops to your daily moisturiser for radiant, lit-from-within skin.

A trip is also the perfect excuse to try out a new signature scent - we love Penhaligon's ALULA, with its warm and wintry blend of vanilla, plum, patchouli, spice and tobacco.

Lastly, don't forget to back a body oil - we chose the Rosie Everyday Body Oil from By Rosie Jane - for silky smooth and moisturised skin.

Now that you've got your winter road trip essentials packed, it's time to hit the road! Or... get more wardrobe inspo with our selects of the best stylish sweatpants in stores right now, or check out our edit of the denim essentials we can't get enough of
