Edward & Ida's

Edward & Ida's

Steeped in history, this charming two-story venue in Northbridge dates back to 1922. It once housed The Patch Theatre, founded by the dynamic duo Edward & Ida Beeby in the late 1930s. With a penchant for theatrics, activism, and a touch of champagne socialism, Edward and Ida's legacy sets the stage for unforgettable long lunches and late nights at this now cosy pub and cocktail den.

Beaconsfield Wine Bar

A broad drinks offering and cacio e pepe inspired 'cheesy crisps' are two major drawcards to this light-filled and charming new neighbourhood bar in Perth.

Think unfussy, low-cost vinos to fancy drops of sparkling; classic cocktails like Negronis and vermouth and soda; even some cleverly curated non-alcoholic options. We're always partial to a post-work drop of Margaret River Rosé, how about you?

Food wise, expect French-leaning fare like cheese, charcuterie and tinned seafood, as well as delicious baked goods from the likes of local legends Teeter and Hunter Bread.

Foxtrot
Foxtrot

Foxtrot Unicorn

At a non-descript entrance on windy Georges Terrace, and down a staircase to a basement hidden underground in an old bank vault is where you’ll find Foxtrot Unicorn. Situated on the site of the former and once-exclusive Western Australian Club, Foxtrot Unicorn retains its debaucherous reputation. Within this jarrah-clad enclave, you’ll discover an ever-changing drinks menu designed to make you forget how you even got there. Depending on the night, you could be hanging onto your vintage chase with a Honeycomb Old Fashioned or rum-based Colombian Neck Tie, and thankfully, jaffles and nibbles to help you find your way home.

The Terrace Bar at Wildflower
The Terrace Bar at Wildflower

Wildflower

Many book well ahead at Wildflower for its Western Australian farmer-forager menu revolving around the six Indigenous seasons. But the best city and Swan River views from this stylish restaurant situated in the Como The Treasury is from Wildflower’s rooftop bar. Not that you need to look far for impressive vistas, as this urban retreat has been meticulously restored to its former Victorian glory by Kerry Hill Architects. While sipping on many local and international drops, as well Western Australian cocktails reflective of the Indigenous menu, you won’t even need to make a booking to mingle with Perth’s high-flyers in this iconic hotspot.

The Royal Hotel
The Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel

Time to act all la-de-da. The Royal Hotel was built in 1882 and has a past as chequered as its luxe décor. Situated on the corner of bustling William and Wellington Streets, cocktails are well-deserved after a shopping spree on the nearby swanky King Street precinct. Indulge in an Afternoon Bloom high tea at Fleur, the Royal’s signature restaurant steeped in contemporary French flair. Then swan up the sweeping staircase to the upstairs bars or veranda where you can look down on your subjects over a sparkling or vodka-based Lady Di.

Rooftop at QT
Rooftop at QT

Rooftop at QT

With Perth at your feet, the Rooftop at QT delivers a playful take on big city sophistication. Situated in the glamorous inner-city QT Perth Hotel and deemed Perth’s highest rooftop bar, you’re offered a unique vantage point to spy on the mischievous city and beyond. Many claim the hand-painted mural opposite the lifts was designed to play with your mind, while others blame their woozy demeanour on the dizzying heights. Let’s face it, with the option of spending the night cocooned within this luxe hotel, any silliness is probably attributed to the extensive spirits and wine list, garnished with Purple Rain and Pisco Disco.

Bar Lafayette
Bar Lafayette

Bar Lafayette

Reminiscent of a gentleman’s club with its chesterfields, jarrah floors and moody tones, the only thing old-fashioned about Bar Lafayette are it's cocktails! There's also a predominantly international wine list and many local beers on offer, but the saucy-sounding cocktail list features names like Naked in Vegas and Watermelon Millionaire, so you shouldn't leave without at least trying one. Burrata, chicken karaage bites, cheese boards and charcuterie are a delightful accompaniment to the ‘insider’ banter favoured by suits sitting sharply around the bar.

Set within the historic Perth Technical College in Brookfield Place, make a night of it, and continue on to W. Churchill, Print Hall and Bobeche.

No Mafia
No Mafia

No Mafia

As a playful nudge towards Northbridge’s checkered past, antipasti, pasta and vino are the starring attractions on the southern Italian menu at No Mafia. White anchovies, wild boar truffle salame and handmade pappardelle with braised duck and mushrooms are our our picks, alongside a bottle of prosecco or a drop from Tuscany or the Veneto region. Followed, of course, by the Italian tradition of an ‘amaro’, an after-dinner digestif - sip on housemade limoncello and settle into your booth for the long haul. Magnifico!
