The 9 Pieces I Saw Everywhere During Euro Summer
Start adding these pieces to cart, because summer is right around the corner
Like half of Australia, I was one of the fortunate people who was able to jet off to Europe to escape the winter scaries. And while exploring all the sights, indulging in plenty of food and engaging with each country’s history were all memorable highlights of my trip, one thing my eye was always drawn to what people were wearing. Whether it be local fashion or tourist fashion, everyone was dressing to impress – and I saw some key reoccurring trends.
As our summer is fast approaching, I’ve taken note of nine pieces I saw everywhere during my travels, because more often than not, European fashion makes its way down under. Get your carts ready, because your summer wardrobe is about to become its very best version of itself.
Witchery Slimline Waistcoat, $249
There’s been whispers through the grapevine, but I can officially confirm: butter yellow will be the colour of the summer. And this Witchery Slimline Waistcoat is the perfect piece to add to your wardrobe, considering vests are incredibly popular right now. While this may be a trend right now, you can safely say this will be going in the capsule wardrobe, too.
With Jean Bea Shorts, $149
Bloomers and boxer style shorts were seen left, right and centre throughout my Europe trip, and we're already starting to see it make its way to the Australian fashion scene. We first started seeing bloomers and ruffle shorts become a popular fashion choice at festivals last year, but they're soon to be much more mainstream, and this With Jean set is the perfect way to integrate them into your summer wardrobe.
Aere Leather Platform Thongs, $120
Thongs are back in fashion, and this time, they're far more elevated (literally). Platform leather thongs are the perfect way to dress an outfit up or down, depending on the occasion, and this pair from Aere are no different. Plus, they have a square toe, which is also creeping its way back into fashion.
Tony Bianco Zaaki Bordeaux Patent, $219.95
Red isn't going anywhere, but pointed heels may be on their way out. What could ever possibly replace the timeless gem that is pointed toe heels, you ask? Square toe heels is my answer, along with all the gorgeous girls in Europe who were rocking them. Whether its open or closed toe, these heels will be taking over this summer.
Ganni White Basic Jersey Cherry Relaxed T-Shirt, $195
There's something effortlessly cool about a graphic t-shirt paired with slouchy linen pants or stripey boxer-style shorts and knee-high boots, ballet flats or sandals. So, we're grateful that graphic t-shirts are deemed cool again, and already flooding our Pinterest boards.
Luck & Trouble Sky Stripe Elasticated Pant Blue Stripe, $60
Is it pyjamas, or is it a super cute, effortlessly cool outfit? The fashion girlies have decided on the latter take. And when styled well, striped trousers make for the perfect spring and summer wardrobe staple.
Ganni Brown Chunky Aviator Sunglasses, $375
The 70s called, they want their sunglasses back. Except they won't be getting them, because chunky frames like these Ganni aviator style sunglasses are the 'It-Girl' frame of the summer. Sometimes, bigger really is better.
Country Road Organically Grown Linen Stripe Shirt, $139
If you couldn't tell, stripes were absolutely everywhere during Euro Summer. There's something about a button up striped shirt that makes you feel put together despite the minimal effort going into it. This one from Country Road, with its light blue hue and linen fabrication, is perfect for the warmer months.
Dissh Milano White Cotton Midi Dress, $179.99
Drop waist dresses are not only immensely flattering on all body types, they're also on trend. These types of dresses were one of the many pieces I saw being styled different ways when I was overseas, and it makes me excited for Australian summer. This dress from Dissh is elevated yet simple, making it perfect for multiple types of occasions.
