Owner Suz Wiltshire has curated a space full of rustic-chic homewares for every nook in your home, and her warm, friendly customer service is a lovely bonus. There’s linen, cushions, books, baskets, soap, candles, jewellery and even artisan chocolate, with a lot of local makers contributing to Cry Wolf’s range. You’ll love Suz’s upcycled old-school lockers and first aid tins, too.

Alma Supply Store

The popular Alma Supply Store in Hobart’s CBD is full of interesting, utilitarian home goods and clothing. If girly millennial pink homewares are what you’re looking for, you won’t find them here. What you will find is Japanese tools and ceramics, Rhizome unisex perfumes, Ann Studio candles, Mungo textiles, Tasmania’s Other Furniture and plenty more eclectic bits and pieces.

Tucked down a laneway off Murray Street in the CBD, Homeroom Design is one of the best spots to find homewares in Hobart. This tiny hidden gem is stocked full of clothes on one side (with labels like Alemaïs, SIR and Outland denim on the racks) and homewares on the other. You’ll find Sage and Clare bathmats, In the Roundhouse dinnerware, Baggu pouches and towels, Leif soap and hand cream and lots of other goodies. It’s the perfect place to buy a present, but you’ll likely leave with something for yourself, too.

We challenge you not to spend a full hour wandering around Miss Arthur thinking about what your dream house might look like. With sections for every part of your home, from the kitchen to the bathroom and even the fireplace and garden, Miss Arthur celebrates the very best in craftsmanship. Located in New Norfolk, about 40 minutes’ drive from Hobart, this homewares store is so good it’s worth the trip. While you’re there, visit sister stores Flywheel (full of beautiful stationery) and the Drill Hall Emporium (an antiques store right next door to Miss Arthur) and make a day of it.

Located on a hill up in West Hobart, Verde Store is a haven of French-inspired, well-crafted goods for your garden and home. Owner and garden designer Karen Wagner has curated the space with her keen eye, and there’s always a treasure to be found here. Filled with plants, pots, candles, beautiful wicker furniture, vases, glassware and indulgent hand creams and soaps, Verde is the perfect homewares store to visit if you want to treat yourself or someone else.

On a cloudy Hobart day, Habeō is a delightfully bright oasis, stocked full of the most cheerful homewares you could imagine. With its emphasis on colour, it’s impossible to walk into this space and not break into a smile. You’ll find vibrant cushions, linen, resin servingware, kids clothing, books, stationery and candles from brands like Sage and Clare, Goldie & Ace, Halcyon Nights, Kollab, Kip & Co and more.

If quirky and unique is what you’re on the hunt for in Hobart homewares, then stop your search at Shalldesign. Local artist Sue Hall runs the shop, creating restyled furniture, clothing, cushions and other treasures that you truly won’t find anywhere else. Think cheeky “map of Tasmania” skirts made from vintage tea towels, “Not Hawaiian” shirts made from Ken Done fabric, crayfish cushions and lampshades crafted from Mirka Mora fabric. Shalldesign has to be seen to be believed.

The owners were hired to curate the design for chic Airbnb 'The Drifters House', so if you dream of living in a vintage-luxe space, this homewares store is the closest you’re going to get.
