Away from the sand, fitness lovers find their groove on the wide footpath that runs parallel to the water. The greenspaces are a gathering point for friends and family taking advantage of the playgrounds and great barbeque facilities.
Gentle sand dunes and shrubbery separate the beach from the shopping precinct, where baristas work overtime. Fish 'n' chips and ice cream are abundant while newer culinary eateries champion local produce and provide picnics to take-away.
Stroll down Jetty Road and you'll find bookshops, fashion boutiques, children's shops and the Esplanade Hotel, the ideal spot for a refreshing drink as the sun goes down. For serious shopping and more night-time entertainment, Adelaide City is easily accessible by car, bus or train.
