Pidapipo Laboratorio

Pidapipo Laboratorio

This hot chocolate from Pidapipo Laboratorio went viral on social media last year for being arguably the best hot chocolate in Melbourne, and we’re over the moon that they’ve brought this limited edition treat back for a second year. This hot chocolate is made from Pidapipo Cioccolato’s 46% single-origin milk chocolate and caramelised sugar, with a generous scoop of Fior di Latte gelato laced with delicious marshmallows, before a croccante (a crunchy Italian brittle with nuts) made from Piedmontese hazelnuts is sprinkled on top, providing the finishing touches.

It's the creamiest, chocolatiest hot drink to ever meet your taste buds, and they will thank you for it. However, it's only available for the duration of winter, so don't delay heading to their Fitzroy or Windsor location to try it (not available at other Pidapipo locations)

Best known for its sandwiches and baked goods, Ruben’s is reinventing the humble hot chocolate to taste even more like an absolute treat. Inspired by their incredibly popular cinnamon babka, this hot chocolate is crafted with Ruben's homemade hot chocolate mix made up of 70% dark chocolate, cocoa, sugar spices and ground cinnamon, before being topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream, babka crumb and a dust of cinnamon.

Available for a limited time only, this hot chocolate will guarantee you a good time.

Le Petit Marché

Le Petit Marché

For a taste of Paris in the form of a deliciously rich and creamy hot chocolate, you need to try Le Petit Marché. Their hot chocolates went viral on TikTok last year as videos of people spooning freshly whipped cream into drinks so thick they looked like melted chocolate graced our ‘For You’ pages. And trust us, this hot chocolate tastes even better than it looks – which you would think impossible, since it’s so aesthetic.

A hot chocolate with cheese? Relax, it’s a Colombian thing. That’s what Colombian cafe Sonido says as it serves up some of the most unique hot chocolate in Melbourne. Sip on your hot chocolate and spoon out your stretchy cheese in a cute yellow mug as you indulge in one of the most decadent treats that one could possibly ask for. Marrying savoury and sweet in one warm mug, it’s kind of like combining our two favourite types of fondue.

Meno Zero

No one does a hot chocolate quite like the Italians, in our opinion. So thick it could be mistaken for hot custard, Meno Zero’s hot chocolate is so hot, it’s a ‘buy now and drink 30 minutes later’ situation. While we may have suffered from burnt tongues due to our eagerness, the temporary pain for what you gain is worth it – trust us.
