The Edit: Alyce Tran Shares her Style Secrets, Trend Predictions & Shopping Wish List

Tastemaker Alyce Tran on what she's currently coveting.

If the name Alyce Tran sounds familiar to you, there's a reason why. The incredibly hardworking entrepreneur has been the brains behind several household brands, including the co-founder and director of fashion accessories brand The Daily Edited and the co-founder of the cult homewares and dinnerware brand In The Roundhouse.

So it's fair to say the fashion-forward visionary always has her finger placed firmly on the pulse, and is a very reputable source when it comes to what we'll be wearing and putting in our homes.

We were lucky enough to sit down with Alyce to chat about her philosophy towards her own style (feminine and classic), her predictions for interiors for the second half of 2024 (colour, colour and more colour) and what she's adding to cart this winter (hint, you're going to want it all).

Describe your style and your best tips are for defining it and refining it

My style is quite feminine and classic, but it is so hard to define a style, I think, as there is so much going on in the market. I like dressing in quite classic pieces I can wear again and again, and I go for quality over quantity.

I also choose to lean into specific brands to keep a look pulled together and to keep my wardrobe looking fresh by purchasing very trend-based pieces. Recently, I bought the new Miu Miu x New Balance trainers, the Alaia Le Teckel Small Shoulder Bag, and silk satin Chanel flats

What are the biggest trends you're anticipating, and what trends should we get ready to leave behind?

For fashion, I love that I am seeing so many pastel colours across all the major brands at the moment, and a return to more feminine tailoring, compared to more masculine tailoring in past seasons. Prada is still on the bow, which I am super pleased about.

In our homes, after a huge reign of neutral interiors I think it's back to colour and interesting textures and surrealist-type furniture.

What's your go-to beauty product you can't live without?

La Mer's eye cream — a hardworking, powerful must-have to have in the routine.

What are your go-to foodie spots in Sydney?

Bills for coffee, drinks at Charlie Parker's and mimi's for dinner.

Alyce's top dinner spot in Sydney is the Merivale gem, mimi's.

How do you mix up your home for the seasons?

I like to change all the small accessories. Think new cushions, throws, or even a rug and, naturally, your table! For a simple fix, I like to re-style my shelves.

Which elements of home styling do you think should be classic and timeless, and which should be trend-based and fun?

Anything built-in should be classic and timeless, but I think the sky is the limit for moving objects like rugs, armchairs, paintings and ornaments.

What are your best tips for styling a space on a budget?

Anchor the space with high-quality pieces you would use daily, such as your couch, dining table, and chairs, but the rest of it can be a mix of high and low items.

What top items are you adding to your cart this season, and why?

Alaïa Le Coeur Heart Shape Bag in Rose

1. The Staple Alaïa Le Coeur Heart Shape Bag in Rose ($1595) because I love pastel and this ticks chic shade and cute shape ticks all the boxes.

2. Camilla & Marc’s Sissil Textured Jersey Top in Bone Cream ($350) is great for winter layering, and the textured fabric adds a cool edge to any look.

3. These Kate Mesh Ballet Flats from Daize ($59.99) are an affordable way to dip a toe into the mesh ballet flat trend that's everywhere at the moment.
