Sonoma

The Sydney-based chain that (thankfully) made its way south to appease the pastry lovers of Canberra, Sonoma handmake croissants on the daily. The cultured butter croissant is perfectly crisp and lightweight, the Pain au Chocolate is filled with dark, bittersweet chocolate batons and the almond croissant is soaked in syrup and twice baked for a caramelised crust and gooey inside. For something savoury, the ham and cheese croissant is best served toasted, made with vintage cheddar, shaved ham, and two types of mustard.

L'epi

L'epi is a French-inspired bakery serving croissants rivalling the real deal found in Paris, handmade using traditional and sustainable methods for the perfectly puffed pastry. Bringing a slice of French heritage to Canberra, we highly recommend ordering the artisan-baked almond croissant - it is wickedly moreish.

Under

The glowing reviews don't lie - Under really does make a sensational croissant. The Mawson bakery has been around for over 4 years, collecting loyal customers along the way who often see pastries and loaves selling out daily.

You can pre-order at the beginning of the week for weekend pickup, but we think there's nothing better than strolling in for a chit-chat and a fresh croissant (and anything else that catches your eye) from the cabinet - still warm from the oven.

Creative flavours of the month keep fans guessing, with combos ranging from raspberry and pistachio to Oreo and caramel.
