Its wide and leafy streets create a suburban haven for residents, who enjoy spacious homes, many of which feature lovely, manicured gardens. There’s a football and rugby club, local parklands and a good range of quality schools, making this a popular pick among families.
Millswood
In Adelaide’s leafy inner south, Millswood has a charming, suburban feel while being just minutes from the CBD. Bike paths meander through tree-lined streets, while playgrounds, tennis courts and sporting ovals encourage families outdoors. The suburb is moments from the weekly Adelaide Showground Farmers’ Market, where locals gather to stock up on fresh produce, as well as the dining and shopping precincts of Goodwood and Unley roads.
Unley Park
Historic Unley Park remains one of the most sought-after suburbs in Adelaide thanks to its stunning properties, access to top tier schools and proximity to the city. Its tree-lined streets showcase impressive, high-end homes, albeit with the price tag to match. The suburb boasts family favourite Heywood Park, with its heritage gum trees, and Unley Park Sports Club offering tennis and bowls. Nearby, locals can tuck into notable brunch spots along Unley Road (try Pickle in the Middle or Whistle and Flute) and shop designer fashion on King William Road.
Kensington Gardens
East of the city, the tree-lined avenues of Kensington Gardens deliver the very best of lifestyle living. This family-friendly pocket is rich in community facilities and neighbourly spirit and enjoys the everyday ease of Magill Road and Norwood Parade for shopping, entertainment, and dining. The suburb’s namesake reserve lies at the heart of it all with tennis courts, ovals, and an adventure playground.
Crafers
Nestled in the Adelaide Hills, the blue-chip suburb of Crafers allows residents to fully immerse themselves in nature. Flanked by bushland, it has Belair National Park and Cleland Conservation Park on its doorstep, giving residents access to walking trails and abundant native wildlife. Close by, the village of Stirling caters to everyday essentials with supermarkets, cafes and boutique shops, along with a popular monthly market.
Golden Grove
With its large homes and clean, green spaces aplenty, there’s good reason people are making the move to Golden Grove. Tucked on the fringe of the city, it lies smack bang in the middle of the CBD and the Barossa, and has a peaceful, small-town vibe with a local shopping village, sporting clubs and pretty parks. Cobbler Creek Conservation Park serves as the neighbourhood’s backyard and provides stunning walking and mountain bike trails through woodland, creeks and along ridge tops.
